Side Steppin' Skunk

Today the new tutorial at  SCS  was how to create a side-step card.  So I decided to try my hand at this-- I'd don't a step type card before but never one in which the steps were off to the side.  I admit I kinda like it.  I of course had to include a little critter from my favorite cartridge.  I will be sending this little cutie off to my friend Jackie--I hope she likes it....I'm guessing she'll probably see it on here before it makes it to her in the mail.

I used some random cardstock I had lying around the pink base is some retired fushia from SU! and the green was a random strip--I used one of my favorite punches for the grass--gotta love Martha.  And the sentiment is from My Pink Stamper.  I am pleased to report my bestie is slowing becoming addicted to MPS!  Love it!  I also had to bling out my skunk...she's even holding a bling flower with matching earrings!!  I do feel like a little something is missing on the top part of the tall side but nothing in my stash seemed to fit and I thought if I cut out clouds that would be overkill!

I wanna be Bakerella!

So it's official...I thought I wanted to be Bakerella...but Iam here to report that will not be happening any time soon.  A friend had picked up the book on cake pops...hmmmm cake and frosting...you mix it...blah blah and cover.  My friend wanted to make the little cupcakes--super adorable might I add...but we didn't have the right shapes for the the little cutters we needed and she was feeling way more creative than I.  So we decided to do the basic cake pop... basic...huh.  We both hold advanced degrees in our field and well cake pops almost were the death of us (only a slight exaggeration here my friends.)

My thoughts for all of you aspiring bakers out there... dream big...maybe one day we'll be creating the mini cup-cake pops or the adorable duckies.  However, in order to keep our friendship and sanity we decided on the simple cake pops!   If anyone out there reading this has any tips and pointers about the candy coating process and how to make it far less painful...please... email me :)

I don't think I'll be quitting my day job any time soon!

Mom's The Word!

Hi everyone!  I hope you had a lovely Easter weekend.  The sun was shining here in MN---ahhhh it was so glorious.  The challenge at FCCB is "Mom's the Word!"  Make a project for a special Mother out there!  Please be sure to use the word mom (or mum, mommy, mother, etc.)

I created this card using some new paper I picked up... I just can't say NO to a DCWV stack...they simply call to me all the time and this time unlike the others I just couldn't say no.  I hope you enjoy my card.  I created the flower by cutting various sizes out from the flower on the Paisley cartridge.

Simple Thank You

Good evening everyone!  I was beginning to wonder if it was December here in MN and I completely missed summer.  It was quite a shock to wake up to snow on the ground :(  I was not at all happy to see that!  The card tonight I am posting is just a simple thank you card I put together-- my hubby needed a "manly" thank you-- I think this one passed the man test!  I love this embossing folder--it's from SU!  Love it!

Who Wants A Juicy Lucy?

Hi...if you are looking for my FCCB Spring Fling post click here for some sweet BLOG CANDY!!!

I hope you're all having a great night.  Tonight I made a card for my friends TK and RK-- they are super fabulous people and we had dinner with them a few nights back (yes, yes, a delayed Thank You...shhh don't tell Ms. Manners please)!   But TK made "juicy lucys" for us and wow they were delicious!  So while I was also wandering around at some of my favorite sites and found a challenge that this card would be perfect for!  Amber is having a challenge this week and the theme is "My Favorite Things!"

What a super fun challenge so I used some of my favorite things for this card!  I love kraft colored cardstock, I think gingham rocks, I LOVE juicy lucy burgers and spending time with friends we love is also my favorite :)  And I used my Cricut...yet another fave! Oooo and I did a gate fold card--love those too! And did I mention how I LOVE stamps from the $ bin!!  Oh...and for those of you who are wondering...a "juicy lucy" is a hamburger that is filled with ooey gooey yummy melty cheese--delicious!  There are many places in MN and I'm sure other parts of the country who claim to have the best juicy lucy!  But I think TK might give them all a run for their money :)

The Juicy Details!
Cricut Cut: Simply Charmed
Paper: random scraps

Howdy!

I'm kickin' it old school with this card.  I pulled out my Lizzie Ann Designs stamps that I picked up quite some time ago and used this little cutie!  I was inspired to pull out my LAD stamps because my lovely secret sister sent me some awesome papers from this same company-- while I didn't cut into her paper yet I did whip up this little guy!  I hope you enjoy!

Oh my...

Oh my...I have to admit I cursed a lot while I was working on this card.  UGH!  So I have been working with a friend to challenge ourselves on many levels--aside from just participating in challenges :)  She had shared a link with me about making some ribbon flowers-- well I decided to make my ribbon flower as the sun instead of a flower.  Along with that tutorial there was also a tutorial on making your own glue dots-- well I was NOT at all successful in creating the dots.  I was super excited and let them dry...I went to make my "flower" and it turned out okay...but when I went to take the glue dot off the paper ummmm it didn't come off at all.  I used parchment paper as the instructions stated but for me it didn't work.  The dot was great but the removal from the paper not so much.

I created this card for a challenge over at Celebrate the Occasion.  The theme for their challenge is "New House."  I used a pre-made card for the card base from DCWV and the house is a cut from the Create-A-Critter cartridge.

The Deets!
Cricut Cartridge Cut: Create-A-Critter
Paper: SU for solid, striped pre made card from DCWV
Ribbon: from my stash
Other: brad from M's, MS grass punch

Party Like A Rockstar

So I rarely if ever...okay never party like a rockstar--but this card sure makes me want to!  I do have a strong love for Amuse so I had to pull out some Amuse stamps tonight and create this card.  I can't believe I didn't use my Cricut nor did I enter this into a sketch challenge!  All of the stamps I used are from Amuse for this card and all of my paper is from my stash so I assume it's SU!  I soooo need to find some more gingham ribbon--I think I need to get some in lots of different colors--it's just so fun.  I cried a little when SU! removed it from the catalog--back then I didn't even know such a thing was possible-- or believe you me I would have stocked up.  I hope you all have a wonderful night!

 The goods:
Stamps: Amuse
Ribbon: black and white gingham SU!
Paper: SU
Ink: Black Staz-on, Going Gray, Summer Sun
